Investors who are Non nationals, are permitted to invest in stock market based unit trust funds (ie: NAMAL Growth Fund). However investors who wish to repatriate their dividends and redemption proceeds in foreign currency, are required to make their remittances through a special account (SIERA) with a Commercial bank operating in Sri Lanka. On request NAMAL would facilitate the establishment of this account with a Commercial Bank in Sri Lanka.

SIERA

The Share Investment External Rupee Account (SIERA) is a special account, opened with a Commercial Bank in Sri Lanka. This account allows investors in the Colombo Stock Exchange who invest foreign currency to repatriate their proceeds from sale of shares and dividends in foreign currency without exchange control.
